Speechometer ("the app") is a speaking-pace tool for iPhone and Apple Watch. This page explains what data the app accesses and how it's handled.
Speechometer uses your iPhone's microphone and Apple's on-device/Apple-server Speech Recognition framework to measure how many words you speak per minute. Audio is processed solely to calculate this pace in real time.
We do not record, store, save, or transmit your audio or transcribed speech to any server we operate. Audio is processed live and discarded immediately after your words-per-minute count is calculated. Apple's Speech framework may send audio to Apple's servers for transcription as part of standard iOS functionality; this is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, not by us.
If you have a paired Apple Watch, Speechometer sends a simple alert signal (not audio, not transcribed text) from your iPhone to your Watch to trigger a haptic buzz when you exceed your chosen speaking pace threshold. This signal is sent directly between your own devices using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework and is never sent to us or any third party.
The app may use local notifications to deliver pace alerts to your Apple Watch when your iPhone is locked. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device — no notification content is sent to or stored on any server we operate.
Speechometer does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, analytics, or usage information. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. The app does not require an account, login, or any personal information to function.
Your chosen words-per-minute alert threshold is saved locally on your device (using Apple's standard UserDefaults storage) so your preference persists between sessions. This setting never leaves your device.
Speechometer does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13, because it does not collect personal information at all.
